In 1936/37 he produced Robert Johnson's only recordings.
After ARC was taken over by, he worked for the Country division of the label,
Becoming head manager in 1952 and remaining in office until 1967.
After his retirement from Columbia, he found his own production company,.
Posthumously inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2001.
