About this album
Christine McVie spent the entire recording process of this thing living in a rented house, trying to avoid the absolute war zone the rest of the band was living in. She wrote 'You Make Loving Fun' about the band’s lighting director while her marriage to John McVie was actively imploding in the same studio. It’s the highest-stakes breakup record ever pressed. You’ve got a heavy slant toward modern pop, but this record is the DNA for every high-gloss, high-drama pop production you currently have on your shelf. It’s ironic you’ve got a soundtrack-heavy collection because the friction on *Rumours* is cinematic. They didn't just record songs; they recorded their own trauma, then mixed it until it sounded like radio gold. Nobody has done it better since. It’s the ultimate lesson in how to turn total personal chaos into a cohesive, undeniable product.
