About this album

Everyone points to the samples on this record, but the real story is that Thomas and Guy-Manuel tracked the whole thing on cheap, off-the-shelf gear while sitting on their beds. It’s bedroom pop for the robot apocalypse. By the time they reached the studio for the mixing desk work, they had already built a sonic universe that rendered high-end production redundant. They didn’t need a massive console to make 'One More Time' hit like a freight train. This is the perfect 4/20 record because it’s engineered to loop in your brain until the lines between song, memory, and feeling just evaporate. You’ve got a massive electronic tilt in your collection, but *Discovery* is the bridge between the old-school disco crate-digging you appreciate and the modern, compressed pop sheen you seem to gravitate toward. It’s pure, uncut rhythm therapy. Smoke up and let the compression do the heavy lifting for an hour.
