About this album

Alan Parsons was just an assistant engineer on Abbey Road, but on this, he was the guy obsessively managing the tape loops for "Money." He spent weeks cutting tape by hand to get that rhythmic, clinking loop to sit perfectly in 7/4 time. Everyone obsesses over the synths, but the record is really a masterclass in aggressive tape editing. Most people treat this like background music for a light show. That’s a shame. Listen to the way the transitions bleed across the sides. It’s not just a collection of songs; it’s a single, claustrophobic loop of studio trickery. You’ve only got one record on your shelf, so you’ve got nowhere to go but down the rabbit hole.
