British band, formed in 1983. Members Michael Allen and Mark Cox had previously played together in the bands Rema-Rema and Mass whilst Andrew Gray was initially a member of In Camera. Lauded as one of 4AD's longest-tenured acts, the band would go on to record consistently until the mid-nineties, culminating with the release of Funky Little Demons (UK 1995) (opens in a new tab) in 1995 and the retrospective Everything Is Beautiful (A Retrospective 1983-1995) (UK & US 2001) (opens in a new tab) in 2001.
After a prolonged period of silence Unremembered Remembered, an LP of demos recorded in 1995-96 for an aborted sixth album, was released for Record Store Day in 2020. Allen and Gray would subsequently announce a reactivation of the group in summer 2024; signed to and with Gray's brother Stephen replacing Mark Cox. Following a string of live performances a comeback album, A 2nd Shape, was released in September that year.
