Biography

Formed in East London in 2011 by Austin, Zampirolo & Sol Haim, the band began performing at DIY nights creating live improvisations by chopping up 1960s films before sequencing and augmenting them with synthesisers.Austin created a series of Log Synths (primitive percussion synths) for the band to play to create a unique live show. Joined by synth wizard Chestnutt, in 2012, the band released their first single, "True Ecology (Shit Everywhere)". Their next release came in early 2015 with "I Want My Minutes Back", issued on white label, and reissued in 2017 by The Leaf Label. Their 12-inch EP The Best Light Is The Last Light was released in June 2017, with debut album Come Play the Trees following in September. For Record Store Day 2018 Snapped Ankles released a covers EP titled Violations, featuring tracks by The Fugs, Can, Comateens and Joey Beltram.
In 2019 the group released their second album, Stunning Luxury, touring extensively with Ursula Russell on drums and JD Parry on Bass.
Album no 3 entitled "Forest Of Your Problems" was written in the Covid 19 pandemic and released in July 2021 with Austin on vocals, log synths, guitars and organs, Chestnutt on synths and logs, Stuart Handy on Drums, JD Parry on Synth bass.
2023 saw the group release Blurtations, an EP of Blurt covers for RSD23 in April on the The Leaf Label.
