Shift

Shift was an American post-hardcore band from New York City, formed in 1990. They emerged from the burgeoning New York hardcore scene of the early 1990s and became pioneers of the melodic post-hardcore/emo sound that would later flourish throughout the decade. The band's early albums were released on, eventually signing to after the release of Spacesuit in 1995. Following years of touring, personal tensions began to arise within the band, and after drummer Samantha Maloney joined Hole, Shift decided to break up in 1998.
