Biography
Nico Di Palo (December 4, 1947 Genova, Italy) is an Italian guitarist, singer, and composer, and a long-standing member of the progressive rock band New Trolls.
Coming from a hard rock background—a genre he has always favored—he later explored other musical styles. He possesses a distinctive voice with a remarkable upper register. Following a serious car accident in early 1998, he switched to playing keyboards for the group *Il Mito New Trolls* and, from November 2006 to 2017, for *La Leggenda New Trolls*. On January 15, 1998, Di Palo was involved in a severe car accident that left him in a coma. While traveling from Genoa to Rome near Arezzo, his car struck a load of corn that had spilled from a truck that had lost control in the opposite lane.[2] The musician emerged from the coma on February 28; however, due to severe head trauma, he suffered short-term memory loss and left-sided hemiparesis, which significantly impairs his movement and speech. He returned to the stage shortly thereafter when, following the breakup of the official New Trolls lineup, he joined *Il Mito New Trolls*. Unable to play the guitar anymore, he became the group's second keyboardist—a solution that allowed him to perform with the band again while hoping for a potential recovery. In 2006, Di Palo resumed playing with Vittorio De Scalzi; together, they released the album *Concerto Grosso: The Seven Seasons* under the New Trolls name. Following a court ruling prohibiting the use of the band's original name, the group decided to use the name La Leggenda New Trolls. In 2018, he released the album *Due di noi* with De Scalzi.
