Biography
American guitarist, vocalist and songwriter, born October 3, 1947, Minneapolis, Minnesota; died April 20, 2026, St. Paul, Minnesota (age 78). Raised in the Morningside section of Edina, Minnesota.
Started career in the mid-1960s, first with the Vectors, then as the leader of surf rock band Michael & The Mumbles, which included his brother Jim Yunker. That band became the Michael Yonkers Band. Recorded Microminiature Love in 1968, and was to sign with Sire Records, but the album was not released. Severely injured in 1971, but continued to record music in a home-built studio. In 2002, his 1968 album was finally released by De Stijl Records, which led to other recordings finally getting released.
