Biography
Mary Ann (sometimes written Maryann) Ganser was an American singer and one of four founding members of "girl group" The Shangri-Las with sisters Elizabeth Weiss (b. 1946) and Mary Weiss (1948-2024), b. Feb. 4, 1948 in Queens, New York (USA). She died after a couple of years battling alcohol and drug abuse from an overdose (heroin or barbiturates) on March 16, 1970 in Queens, New York, aged 22. Śhe was the twin sister of also founding member (d. 1996), and older sister of Gail Ganser, b. April 4, 1957, d. Dec. 9, 2009 in Manorville, Suffolk County, New York.
