Biography
NYC rapper and songwriter born from a mother who was a Brazilian jazz singer and father who was a Brazilian jazz musician. Ladybug Mecca is prominently known for her role in the group Digable Planets in which she contributed to making "hip-hop bebop" popular in the 1990's. In 2005, she released her solo album Trip The Light Fantastic (opens in a new tab) which can be said is a reflection of her Brazilian roots as it runs the gamut of styles, including samba, hip-hop, jazz and rock and one on which Ladybug both raps and sings.
