Biography

Danish songwriter, producer, musician and journalist, born 1954 in Copenhagen, leader of Danser med Drenge with singer. Started out as bass player in jazz-rock fusion band in 1976, then founded the popular pop/reggae band Tøsedrengene with his childhood friend Henrik Stanley Møller in 1978. He left Tøsedrengene in 1983, and worked solo through the 1980's, then founded Danser med Drenge in 1991 with deceased singer.
While Kjellerup never had much success as a solo artist, he has been quite successful as producer and songwriter in bands like Tøsedrengene and Danser med Drenge, who have had many albums and songs at the top of the Danish charts through the four decades since 1980. Of note is his work as songwriter for female singers, and in Danser med Drenge, for whom he wrote the hit songs Hvor Længe Vil Du Ydmyge Dig? (Denmark 1993) (opens in a new tab), Er Der Nogen I Himlen? (Denmark 1995) (opens in a new tab) and Griber Du Mig Når Jeg Falder?
