American record producer, composer and visual artist born on 1974-05-31 in Houston, Texas, but started out in Portland, Oregon (USA). He is a multi-instrumentalist who is known for using all-analog equipment. He has been recording and releasing records since the mid-1990s. Jewel owns and operates his own record label called. He is a member of multiple bands on the label, including Glass Candy (along with vocalist Ida No), Chromatics (along with Ruth Radelet, Adam Miller (opens in a new tab), and Nat Walker (opens in a new tab)), Desire (opens in a new tab) (with Megan Louise and Nat Walker (opens in a new tab)), and Symmetry (opens in a new tab) (with Nat Walker (opens in a new tab)). As a composer, Jewel is widely known for his contribution to the film Drive (2011), as well as scoring the A&E crime drama series Those Who Kill (2014) and actor Ryan Gosling's 2015 directorial debut, Lost River. Jewel has been sampled by Schoolboy Q, Jarvis Cocker, and Kid Cudi.
