Jigmastas

Hip hop group from Crown Heights, Brooklyn, New York.
Formed in 1991 as a four-man crew, the group is best known as a partnership between DJ Spinna and childhood friend Kriminul.
Their first break came when their demo tape was lauded in The Source magazine's Unsigned Hype column (issue 70, July 1995).
A demo deal with EastWest Records followed but no music was released on the label due to its merger with Elektra and the firing of the people who had signed them.
Instead, the group followed an independent path and released their music on smaller New York labels, including Freeze, Tommy Boy Black and their own, Beyond Real Recordings, named after their most successful track.
