Biography

American Glam Punk singer, songwriter, actress, and visual artist, born July 13, 1947 in Dallas, Georgia. Probably rock music's first openly transgender singer.
County moved to New York City in the late '60s, becoming a fixture of the underground art scene, and performing in off-off-Broadway theater, while also starring in Andy Warhol's play "Pork". She soon fronted bands like Queen Elizabeth and The Electric Chairs. She began taking feminizing hormones in 1976 and formally changed her stage name from Wayne to Jayne in 1979 while living in Berlin, publicly identifying as a trans woman for the first time.
