Biography

German singer, songwriter and composer, born August 2, 1946 in Hamburg, Germany. She is considered as one of the most influential women in the German Krautrock era.
In Hamburg in the 1960's, Rumpf first played in the Folk band City Preachers with John O'Brien-Docker and Udo Lindenberg. As she and some bandmates didn't want to focus on Folk anymore, they founded Frumpy in January 1970, which quickly became one of the most successful German Rock bands of its time. The band split in 1972 and Rumpf and some bandmates founded a follow-up band called Atlantis. She stayed with the band until it broke up in early 1976.
She continued her career as a Blues singer in the 1980's and 1990's and later, she shifted her interests towards Gospel music.
