Biography
German drummer, percussionist and engineer, born in 1952 in Hamburg.
In the early 1970's, he was percussionist for Hamburg based Rock bands and he was working as an engineer at. There, he met Conny Plank and became his assistant engineer. He followed him later to in Wolperath, where he got known with Neu!, who were exclusively engineered by Plank.
During that time, he used to support the recording band as studio musician, mainly as percussionist. Neu! offered him the position as drummer on their record Neu! '75 (opens in a new tab). After the record, the band split. When Klaus Dinger decided to form a new band immediately together with his brother Thomas, they asked Lampe to join the band as drummer. He stayed with the band until their split in 1983, while recording their 4th album.
In the 2010's, Lampe started to be a regular accompanying musician for Michael Rother.
