American country music singer/songwriter. Country Music Hall of Fame member 1989.
Born 3 September 1925 in Waco, Texas, USA.
Died 6 November 2007 in Fort Worth, Texas, USA.
Often miscredited for co-writing the 1960 hit song "Chills And Fever" written by Bobby Rackep and Bill Ness because he also co-wrote a song by the same name with Billy Gray which he recorded in 1952.
On WACO radio as a teenager, billed as "Hank the Hired Hand".
Served in the U.S.Navy during World War II.
First recorded for Globe Records in 1946.
Backing group was The Brazos Valley Boys.
