Biography

French musician born on May 21, 1979 in Besançon.
One half of the French electronic duo Justice.
His parents moved from Besançon to Paris when Gaspard was still a toddler but he remais attached to his hometown where he still has relatives.
He discovers music in high school, in the 12th arrondissement of Paris, where he meets, through mutual friends, his future Justice bandmate Xavier de Rosnay, who also plays music as a hobby. The two bond over music, and, instead of going to the Cinema, they exchange synthesizers & records in second-hand shops. They soon decide to make music together "for fun".
Gaspard played as a drummer (& occasional keyboardist) in the bands Gallantry (along with Antoine Hilaire of Poney Poney / Jamaica) & Darling (later renamed "(also)starring"), a band in which Xavier de Rosnay, played bass.
Gaspard & Xavier first used the Justice moniker on MuscloRecords' "Musclorvision - Hits Up To You" compilation that contains their The Buggles-inspired first released track "Sure You Will" (they also did the introductory track to the themed compilation). They later remixed the Simian track "Never Be Alone" for a web remix contest they did not win and gave the track to then Daft Punk's manager Pedro Winter during a raclette dish party organized at Gaspard's parents house. Pedro, recognizing the potentiontial of the track, released it as one of the first releases of his new label Ed Banger Records.
Prior to Justice, in addition to playing in various bands, Gaspard was a freelance graphic designer (like Xavier) & art director (at Musclorecords), working under the monikers Gaspirator / Airbrush Counterfeit.
