Björk Guðmundsdóttir (Icelandic pronunciation: [ˈpjœr̥k ˈkvʏðmʏntsˌtoʊhtɪr]), known by her stage name Björk, is an award-winning Icelandic singer, songwriter, musician, producer, actress and DJ born 21 November 1965 in Reykjavík known for her highly experimental material. "Rolling Stone" music magazine placed Bjork 60th at their "100 Greatest vocalists of all time" list. In 1997, Björk was awarded with the Icelandic "Order of the Falcon".
During her time with The Sugarcubes, Björk was briefly married to guitarist Þór Eldon. They had a son, Sindri Eldon Þórsson (opens in a new tab), born 8 June 1986, the same day that the band was formed. They divorced before the end of 1986, but continued to work together in the band. Björk was the partner of Matthew Barney from 2000 to 2013; they have a daughter,, born in 2002.
