Turkish rock singer, song writer and tv host (born in Istanbul on 2 January 1943 - died on 1 February 1999 of a heart attack).
His mother Rikkat Uyanık was a famous Turkish singer in the 1940s. Living in Paris during the 1960s, he started the band Les Mistigris. Considered one of the most influential pop artists of Turkey. Founder member of the band Kurtalan Ekspres.
He is considered one of the pioneers of "Anatolian Rock," a musical style that emerged from a blend of Turkish folk music and Western musical genres such as rock, pop, and funk.
Through the various children's programs he produced from the late 1970s until his death in 1999, he became an artist loved by children and identified with them.Just like the meaning of his name (Barış=Peace) he advocated for world peace, had a humanist perspective, and traveled to many countries around the world, making TV programs with children there
