Biography
Band from Sarpsborg, Norway; founded in 1989 by Stephan Groth and Jon Erik Martinsen.
Jon left the band and is now in Norwegian synth pop act Sweep. For many years, Apoptygma Berzerk stayed a solo project of Groth with accompanying musicians. In the years 1990 to 1995, the band was a blend of Synthpop and harder elements as EBM and Industrial. In the late 1990's, the sound developed to more Synthpop oriented music, resulting in their biggest commercial success with their single Kathy's Song (opens in a new tab).
