Biography

Amália Rodrigues was born in Lisboa, Portugal (23rd July 1920). She was the most important female Portuguese Fado singer ever, and also a famous actress. Among her most important collaborators were the composer Alain Oulman, and many poets such as Pedro Homem de Mello, Ary Dos Santos, Manuel Alegre and Alexandre O'Neill. Her younger sister Celeste Rodrigues was also a Fado singer. She died in Lisboa, Portugal (6th October 1999).
