Alfred Brendel

Alfred Brendel was an Austrian classical pianist, born January 5, 1931 in Vizmberk, Czechoslovakia (now Loučná nad Desnou, Czech Republic), and grew up in Zagreb, Yugoslavia (now Croatia), and Graz, Austria. He died June 17, 2025 in London, UK. He studied with Edwin Fischer among others, and was mainly an interpreter of German speaking, classical composers (Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Joseph Haydn, Franz Schubert, Ludwig van Beethoven, Franz Liszt, Johannes Brahms...). Father of Doris Brendel and Adrian Brendel.
