Alan Livingston is a musician from McDonald, United States, active 1917–2009.
Biography
American music executive, publisher, record/movie producer.
Married to actress Betty Hutton (1942-1955).
Married to actress (1962-2009, his death).
Hired by as writer/producer in the mid 1940s, Livingston created the popular children's entertainment character Bozo The Clown.
He moved to the music department as vice president in the early 1950s, reviving Frank Sinatra's career, flanking him with a new working group and arrangers.
In 1960, Livingston was nominated president of Capitol, remaining in office until the early 70s. As president, he signed The Beatles in 1963, with ‘I Want To Hold Your Hand’ as first single, after the label refused to distribute the group's previous hits, released in UK by the sister company, deeming them unsuitable for the US market.
In 1970 he founded the independent label, together with Nick Venet.
In August 1976, Livingston joined as Senior Vice President.
