A couple of Technics 1200s and a Vestax mixer were the only tools that mattered when this scratch-heavy madness hit the scene. The guy behind phonosychographDISK didn't care about clean studio fidelity or making things easy for a casual listener. He was part of that late-90s turntablism explosion where the goal was to push the physical limits of vinyl until the groove practically screamed. If you've spent any time digging through the Asphodel catalog, you know the drill: glitchy, aggressive, and allergic to a steady tempo. He wasn't just another bedroom DJ trying to copy Invisibl Skratch Picklz. There was a weird, almost claustrophobic industrial edge to the way he layered samples. It felt like the machine was eating the record in real-time. By the time he hit 'Moo...' in 2001, the sound had evolved into this dense, abstract collage that made most trip-hop sound like elevator music. He didn't hang around long enough to get stale, vanishing almost as fast as he arrived.
