Based upon a Latin-oriented instrumental "Yeh-Yeh!", first recorded on Watermelon Man! (US 1967) (opens in a new tab) and written by R. Grant and P. Patrick - which perhaps explains the 'Mongo' publisher credit on early issues of Fame's "Yeh, Yeh". Subsequent lyrics by J. Hendricks then resulted in this A-side arrangement of the work by Fame and his group. The song topped the UK charts in Jan '65 and, in Feb '65, the USA issue reached #21 in the Billboard chart.
