Master for single releases of "Yé Ké Yé Ké".
The song was originally recorded in 1984 for the album À Paris; this version was not released as a single.
The title is a Mandinka chant, meaning something like "the feeling of being in love with someone".
In 1987, the song was re-recorded and remixed for the album Akwaba Beach. This is the "hit version" in Europe and often referred to as the "French remix".
Due to its success, new mixes for the UK and US were made by Martyn Young. These versions are named "Mory's House mix" or "Afro Acid mix".
The album's title track was featured on the B-side.
It was the first ever African single to sell more than a million units.
The album was the all-time best selling African album by one artist.
1987 copyrights appear on many releases which actually came out well into 1988. Any release with the Martyn Young remixes is from mid-1988 at the earliest.
