Whiplash Smile is the third studio album by British rock musician Billy Idol, released on October 20, 1986. This album was produced by Keith Forsey, who also produced Idol's previous album, and it marks a shift towards a more polished and experimental sound compared to his earlier, more straightforward rock record. It incorporates heavier use of synthesizers and electronic element, blending rock with a new wave and dance influence that was popular at the time. Whiplash Smile features notable singles like To Be a Lover, which reached No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100, as well as Sweet Sixteen and Don't Need a Gun.
