About

Wake Up and Smell the Coffee is the fifth studio album by the Irish alternative rock band The Cranberrie, released on October 22, 2001, by MCA Record. This release marked a significant reunion for the band, as they re-teamed with producer Stephen Street, who had previously helmed their first two multi-platinum album, Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We? and No Need to Argue. The album signaled a conscious effort to return to the band's acoustic-driven root, steering away from the heavier, more experimental sounds of their late-90s work. Frontwoman Dolores O'Riordan described the record as a reflection of a happier, more stable period in her life, contrasting with the darker themes found on previous release. Despite this "return to form," the album did not achieve the same commercial heights as its predecessor, though it still managed to secure Gold certification in several countrie. Three singles were released to promote the album: "Analyse," "Time Is Ticking Out," and "This Is the Day." The lead single, "Analyse," became a minor hit in Europe, noted for its energetic, upbeat tempo. The album's artwork was once again designed by the legendary Storm Thorgerson, who had also designed the cover for their previous album, Bury the Hatchet. .
