About
Australian singer/songwriter/guitarist and Wolfmother mastermind Andrew Stockdale indulges his longstanding love of all things heavy on the band’s fourth album. That includes the title track’s hard-rock triumph, complete with Queen-like harmonies, galloping guitar riffs, and piledriving drums that stop and start like whiplash. Stockdale’s signature rock-god wail can still shake the walls more than a decade after his debut album, while he stretches convincingly on the romantic acoustic balladry of “Pretty Peggy” and the driving pub rock of “Best of a Bad Situation,” which echoes early-’70s Rod Stewart.
