Album notes

Discogs page for these notes (opens in a new tab)

Most commercial releases featured a truncated version of the group's name: 'Massive' instead of 'Massive Attack' due to concerns the the song would be boycotted by the BBC (it was released during the height of the Gulf War).
The original version of "Unfinished Sympathy" is sampling / scratching the chorus in introduction and / or at circa 0:50” of the track "Planetary Citizen", which was originally performed in 1976 by John McLaughlin (aka ) and his Mahavishnu Orchestra, on the album "Inner Worlds".
