"Truthdare Doubledare" was the second full album recorded by Bronski Beat and released in May 1986. Original vocalist Jimmy Somerville had left the band in 1985 following musical and political differences between him and fellow band members Steve Bronski and Larry Steinbachek. After Somerville's departure a stop-gap album (Hundreds & Thousands) was released comprising mainly of remixes, b-sides and other previously unreleased material.
The remaining band members decided to continue and recruited John Jøn as their new singer, recording this album in the autumn and winter of 1985. The album was preceded by two singles Hit That Perfect Beat and C'Mon! C'Mon! and went on to reach number 18 in the UK charts and number 12 in the Australian charts.
The album was initially released with two sleeves bearing the bands new "drummer logo", one with the logo printed in purple and one where it was a light green colour.
