About
On his Tribute to 2, My Morning Jacket's frontman dips into a disparate batch of covers, touching on classic rock, old-school country, and the Great American Songbook. James sounds equally comfortable tackling The Beach Boys' "I Just Wasn't Made for These Times" complete with full orchestration, bringing a spare, acoustic approach to Willie Nelson's "Funny How Time Slips Away,” or bridging the gap between mellotron and gypsy jazz on the standard "Blue Skies." Wherever he ventures, his amiable but otherworldly croon places James' distinct stamp indelibly upon the material.
