About
Five Finger Death Punch drop plenty of massive, fist-pumping hooks, but what ultimately puts their debut over the top is their primal anger. Marrying groove-metal growl to thrash’s manic attack, the pugnacious band stitch together a sequence of battering breakdowns to create “Salvation” and inject the feverish “White Knuckles” with riffs that sound like they’re speeding into a brick wall. “Meet the Monster” is particularly vicious, thanks in large part to Ivan Moody’s grunt, which oozes spite for just about the entire human race.
