The co-writer Travis Wammack released the song 1975 as a single and on an album, so this may lead to some confusion here.
In the intro to this song on a video (opens in a new tab), Travis tells the story. He was cutting a demo version of this song at Fame Recording Studios, when Little Richard come in, listen and enjoyed it. So he decided to recording it himself.
