Henry Mancini's score for Blake Edwards' uproarious crime comedy <i>The Pink Panther</i> is a woozy cocktail of smooth lounge, Latin-infused jazz, and booming climaxes. The iconic opening number—with its infectious bassline and slinky horn riff—sets the tone, while the peppy "The Tiber Twist" and madcap "Shades of Sennett" keep things swinging. Taking it into the after-hours zone, the dreamy "Piano and Strings" uses delicate instrumentation to reveal a mellower side to the musical capers.
