About
On their sophomore album, these Chicago upstarts abandon pop-punk’s juvenile humor for reckless hunger and raw emotion. In its relentless, spontaneous intensity, “Isolating Everything” echoes not just Jimmy Eat World, but the earlier, more challenging emo of Sunny Day Real Estate. Meanwhile, “Mess” is a Molotov cocktail of wildness and tenderness to please any fans of Paul Westerberg and the Replacements. Even the snappy pop of “Colder Quicker” has real bite to it, while the half time rhythms of “Mokena” afford intimate access to the sandpapered surface of Dan Lambton’s voice.
