The composition "Time Waits" was originally titled "Duerme", and was composed by Miguel Prado, with Spanish lyrics by Gabriel Luna de la Fuente. The English-language version is better known as "Time Was", and has a lyric by Bob Russell. Bud Powell recorded this piece (as "Time Was") for Verve in 1954 and for RCA in 1956.
The first stereo release seems to have been in 1966 or later, with the "Division of Liberty" label. Some of these have "Electronically Re-channeled to Simulate STEREO" on the back cover. However, by this time, van Gelder was recording both in stereo and mono, and listening suggests that at least some of these are true stereo, despite the back cover.
