About
Equal parts porcelain piano and volcanic riffage, “Bitches Crystal” is a prog rock pinnacle—the perfect portal to the unruly fusions of Tarkus. The 20-minute title song takes you from atonal funk to classical composition before blasting off into outer space psychedelia. ELP’s morphing song structures birth a number of delightful oddities, like the fractured Britpop of “Jeremy Bender” and “Are You Ready Eddy,” a sock-hop rave-up that reanimates Little Richard. ELP loves to balance its interstellar ambitions with passion for old-fashioned boogie-woogie.
