About
Scissor Sisters embrace late-night debauchery and pop bliss on their dazzling second album, which channels the big-tent pop of Elton John and the Bee Gees through the catwalk-ready electro that dominated clubs in the mid-’00s. While tracks like the saucy “Kiss You Off” and the sinewy “The Other Side” echo downtown’s cool vibe, the splendid “Land of a Thousand Words” and the shimmying “I Don’t Feel Like Dancin’” pair Jake Shears’ piercing falsetto with sugar-coated hooks and nervy, ambitious craftsmanship.
