About

When Nick Jonas thinks about his “Sunday best,” he remembers how he and his family would show up to church on Sundays: dressed well and focused on the service at hand. His father was an ordained minister, and Jonas is now a father himself, raising a toddler with his wife of eight year, Priyanka Chopra. His fifth solo album Sunday Best is a portrait of this stage in his life, where he wants to show up as his best self at all time. On opening track “Sweet to Me,” Jonas paints a picture of the tender moments in his life: renting movies with his dad at Blockbuster, spitting out watermelon seeds in the backyard that would then grow into more fruit. Across the album, he’s vulnerable and thankful for the life he’s lived so far and what he’s been able to build. He takes a step back to analyze moments of self-criticism on single “Gut Punch,” where he lists the insecurities that come with getting older and seeing your body change in the mirror. “If you find that inner child/Haven’t seen him for a while/Let him know he’s doing fine/Hit me like a gut punch,” he sing. .
