About

After the major studio releases of two Joy Division albums and the sad, tragic suicide of lead singer Ian Curtis, fans and record labels everywhere began honoring everything that made Ian Curtis, well... Ian Curtis. From his seductive baritone voice to his songwriting style. Even though there were only two studio releases from Joy Division, there were still many compilation albums released, this being one of the bestselling for the song selection. It was released as a companion to the New Order compilation of the same name, released a year earlier, and much like it is a compilation of non-album singles, as well as some tracks from EPs or Samplers that were never released on studio albums.

Posthumous compilation of Joy Division songs, released in July 1988.
It compiles the four singles that did not appear on the albums and also collects tracks from An Ideal For Living, A Factory Sample, Earcom 2 and Licht Und Blindheit.
The tracks from the appendix are only featured on cassette in some regions and CD issues worldwide.
Peaked at no. 7 of the UK album charts, and at no. 146 of the US Billboard 200, marking the band's only chart appearance in the United States.
The 1992 re-release by London Records features a new longer version than the original 12" mix of "She's Lost Control" (also found on Factory compilation Martin and Heart And Soul), while the other editions have the version featured on the "Atmosphere (UK 1980) (opens in a new tab)" single. Re-released again in 1999/2000, and remastered in 2015.
