All tracks were recorded between 1947 and 1951 at Quinn Recording Company. The acetates were sold by Bill Quinn for release on RPM Records.Three of the sides turning up on these numerous versions were unissued at the time.
The track "Just Sittin Down Thinkin" is actually "Thinking Life Over" from Dark Old World / Thinking Life Over
They are all frequency-doctored which resulted in a muffled sound.
The complementary compilation to this is A Legend In His Own Time.
Initial released as 'Lightning Hopkins Sings The Blues' in 1961 on "Crown",
Self titled in 1963 on "Crown", again as 'Original Folk Blues' in 1967 on "Kent", with some reissues, also on "United Superior" and as "A Time For Blues' in the UK in the middle of the 60s...
