About
Return to Cookie Mountain was the Brooklyn indie band's breakthrough—a powerful statement of doom and gloom, dissonance and detachment, general malaise and great anxiety—and it's beautiful because it so accurately set those emotions to song. Kyp Malone's falsetto and Tunde Adebimpe's deep bellows serve as centered voices of reason in the midst of chaos: They're the eye of a storm of swirling guitars, triumphant horns, orchestral swells, and even a tender howl from the one and only David Bowie.
