About
Throughout 2009’s chart-topping Ready for the Weekend, you can hear Calvin Harris transitioning from the cheeky electro-pop of his debut to the all-conquering EDM that came after. Blaring rave airhorns egg on the playful disco groove of “The Rain"; “You Used to Hold Me” reimagines a house classic as a bass-heavy romp festooned with Harris’ own wildly personable vocals. It comes to a head on “I’m Not Alone,” colliding winsome indie pop with icy trance stabs that strike like a bolt from the blue.
