Petitioning the Empty Sky is an album by American hardcore punk band Converge. While many sources catalog the release as a studio album, the band considers this a compilation album as it's a collection of songs recorded at different times. It also features both studio recorded tracks among three songs recorded live. Petitioning the Empty Sky was released and distributed through several different labels beginning in the mid 90s. Petitioning the Empty Sky was originally released through Ferret Music in 1996 and was also one of the earliest albums released through the newly formed label. This early version was a.

Issued in a standard clear plastic jewel case with an 8-page lyric booklet.
There are 11 songs listed on the rear cover insert, however when you play/upload the CD there are only 10 tracks. Not to worry, there are actually 12 songs total: "For You" & "Antithesis" are combined on track 9 with no gap between them and "Homesong" and a hidden song "Burn In Hell" are combined on track 10 after 5 minutes of silence.
