Películas is the second and final studio album by the Argentine progressive rock band La Máquina de Hacer Pájaro, released in 1977 through the Talent Microfón label. This album exhibits a greater variety in musical idea, as well as a more bombastic work in the arrangements of the songs compared to the band's previous album, La Máquina de Hacer Pájaro, released in 1976. The graphic art was done by the famous designer Juan Oreste Gatti. In 2007, the Argentine magazine Rolling Stone ranked the album at number 71 on its list of "The 100 Best Argentine Rock Album." Unlike the first album, where there was a great variety of composition, perhaps too scattered, this album contains a series of songs linked by a concept, a fact that traces the influences of symphonic rock bands like Yes (where conceptualism leads to the conversion of songs into true movements quite similar to long pieces of classical music). While the band continues to denote its progressive-symphonic rock sound, the rhythmic and instrumental variety throughout the conceptual work warns of an advance in terms of the band's arrangements and composition.
