About
Inspired by New York’s anti-folk movement and bolstered by a youthful collaborative spirit, Noah & the Whale’s debut arrives like a breeze on a warm day. Obviously, “5 Years Time”—frontman Charlie Fink and backing vocalist Laura Marling’s indelible whistle-along earworm—adds to this. But from the riotous fiddling of “Rocks and Daggers” to the stage-rattling stomp of “Jocasta”, Peaceful, the World Lays Me Down’s poppy moments belie a rich, soulful complexity.
