Master for Meat Loaf "Paradise By The Dashboard Light", taken from the album Bat Out Of Hell.
This master contains the original 1977 release and its subsequent re-issues.
Following the success of Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad, "Paradise..." was chosen as the album's third single in the US.
An earlier fade of the 8:28 album version was made, resulting in a 7:55 version. Promo 12" releases skipped the baseball-play-to-play on one side, making it a 6:58 version. B-side of the single was "Bat Overture", being the first two minutes of the album's 9:51 title track.
This version became No. 39 in the Billboard Hot 100.
A more drastic 5:25 edit was released in the Netherlands (also b/w "Bat Overture"), where the song became a No. 1 hit. This drew the attention to other countries, where the song was also released:
- b/w "All Revved Up..." in the UK;
- b/w "You Took The Words..." in Italy;
- as a B-side to You Took The Words Right Out Of My Mouth / Paradise By The Dashboard Light (US 1977) (opens in a new tab) in the US.
The UK release did not chart, but the US release did (once again No. 39).
Re-issued on CD-single in 1988 featuring the full album version.
